HMRC has lost a first tier tribunal hearing against ‘loose women’ presenter Kay Adams who had a £124,000 IR35 demand on her BBC contract.

The case hinged on Kaye Adams being on business on her own account, she had a professional business identity, multiple income streams plus the BBC didn’t have first call on her time or control her other engagements.

This is the fifth HRMC loss out of six cases brought by HRMC since the IR35 changes in the public sector in 2017.
